What an SLS part costs
We don't have a price per gram, because in SLS the cost of a part depends more on the space it takes up in the chamber than on how much material it contains. Below you'll find what goes into the price and how you can bring it down.

What goes into the price
- Space taken up in the chamber
- Every build heats, prints and cools the whole chamber volume. A part with a large bounding box takes up space that other parts could have used, even when it is thin.
- Build height
- Print time depends mainly on the number of layers. A tall part keeps the printer busy for longer than a flat part with the same volume.
- Material volume
- Sintered powder can't be recovered. Solid, bulky parts use more of it than parts with walls designed for the actual load.
- The material
- PA12 is the most economical. PA11, PA12 GF, PA11 CF, TPU and polypropylene cost more as powder and follow different reuse rules.
- Quantity
- The more parts fit into the same build, the more the cost of heating, cooling and preparation is shared between them.
- Finishing
- Standard blasting is included in the price. Dyeing, painting, the protective coat and polishing are added separately and listed on their own in the quote.

How to bring the cost down
- Hollow out solid parts and leave at least 2 escape holes of 3.5 mm so the powder can get out.
- Order several parts at once, even a few spares, because the cost per part drops noticeably.
- If you don't need a particular colour, stay with grey PA12 and skip dyeing.
- Send a STEP file instead of an STL. We check it faster and the holes and radii keep their precision.
- Tell us which dimensions matter, so we don't treat the whole part as critical.
